COUNTY LENGTHSMEN SCHEME

Kent County Council has introduced a new scheme for dealing with highway maintenance issues. This includes the appointment of a County Lengthsman Co-ordinator for the parish, who will liaise with highway engineers to notify and programme schedules of work.  

The Co-ordinator for Ash is the Clerk to the Parish Council.  To report defects - click here

Works under this scheme will be carried on a six monthly basis and could include:

  • Cleaning and fixing signs
  • Tidying up verges
  • The Co-ordinator for Ash is the Clerk to the Parish Council. 
  • Digging out gullies, drainage pipes and grips
  • Cutting back hedgerows to improve visibility lines
  • Temporary/small patching but not large scale repairs
  • Minor kerb repairs
  • Odd pavement slab repairs
  • Painting guard rails
  • Repair of other minor defects
  • Removal of isolated amounts of dumped rubbish on the highway
